SCAN MASKS for (newer) Epson Scanners
PENSO is a system of scanner masks that permits scanning of various formats of film: 127, 110 (16mm), Minox (9,2mm), APS (24mm), and 135 + 126 with sprocket holes.
It consists of a tray that engages with the frame of Epson Perfection V700 and V750 and connects to the other masks with interlocking grooves.
NOTE: the Penso system is only suitable for scanners that have a 2mm film height above the glass plate. Older scanners like Epson Perfection 3200, Epson Perfection 3170 and others, have 1mm distance between the flatbed glass and the film, therefore the scans would be out of focus. Before you buy the PENSO masks you should check your current masks’ depth to verify that they’re 2mm thick.
Every film mask has male/female interlocks to chain the masks together. The top and bottom parts of each film mask are coupled magnets that keep the film flat and at the correct distance from the scanner’s glass. If your scanner is not Epson you can just use the masks without the tray.
You can also use these masks to scan the film vith a DSLR, but if that’s your use case, also consider the more dedicated LUMINO film scanning system.
